Grandpa, are you sure Santa will fit?

Bill and Cassandra were checking out the fireplace to see if they could burn wood in it or not.  Daniel was helping also.  We spent yesterday helping Adam build a desk for Cassandra in her home office.  He was able to bring some real nice 5/8" plywood home.  So Bill and Adam built a real nice desk for Cassandra.  She now has lots of room on her desk top for her computer, printer, phone and "stuff".
The weather has been rainy some but it's off and on so doesn't bother us much.  Temp is in the 50's when we get up in the mornings but up to 60's-70's during the day.  We're sitting here right now with the windows and door open.
Betty sent my 2 Christmas quilts, she did a great job on both of them.  I just need to get material for the binding, my favorite part to sit with the quilt on my lap and hand sew.  I have 3 sets of the blue and gray material cut out and 1/2 square triangles sewn.  The paper Thangles seem to work okay.  First cutting strips 2 1/2" wide, then you have to be careful pinning the paper on to make sure it lines up and doesn't slip.  Sewing on the lines was good.  Then cutting them all apart.  Next pressing them, don't forget the one tail needs to be cut too.  Next tearing the paper off.  And you're done.  It seemed like alot of steps to me but I'll use them till they're gone.

Haven't been to a quilt store yet, but that's on the agenda.  Also the T-shirts should be coming this week.  I received an e-mail from them, they haven't forgotten us.

My Christmas cactus loves it down here.  It's almost ready to bloom, lots of buds.

Any snow yet?

What a Week part 2

Good morning everyone,
Had a great week at the Houston quilt show.  I went Thursday with Bill's cousin Kay (who lives in Houston) and we had a great time.  Found a few things to buy that I couldn't live without like the bias ruler and binding ruler.  Also some French border fabric to go with squares I bought in Paris.  (I'll really try to get it done before I'm back home)
The award winning quilts were spectacular, way beyond what I do but lots of ideas.  Then Cassandra and I and Daniel went back on Saturday to look some more.  The quilts have lots of machine quilting and the backs were also works of art depending on the colors of thread they used.  Also lots of embellishments.  Daniel and Cassandra came to visit us for supper last night.  Thank goodness the doors and drawers were made for toddlers, Daniel couldn't pull them open, but he liked our little home.  (just his size)  Christmas cactus really likes it here, lots of buds.   More later

What a Week!

Happy Halloween

                                                            The "Blue Monster".
We finally got settled in our new home for the next 2 months.  Have a nice spot with some room on both sides.  Also there is a great pond with ducks that Max likes to go for a walk around, there is so much to "Smell".

Armed with our list a trip to Super Walmart was on the agenda.  Also had a flat tire on the 5th wheel (must have run over something on the highway) so dropped it off at the tire center.  The 5th wheel is very comfortable.  Bill & I both have enough hot water in the morning for showers.  Plan to gather up dirty clothes and go the our daughter's home and do laundry.  humm I seem to remember someone else doing this.  ha ha

Our new home

Our new home.  Spent all day in Kansas and Oklahoma looking for ancestors.  Met a wonderful lady in a small town of Anthony, KS at the public library.  She had studied German and also had worked in Salt Lake City studying genealogy.  Three hours later she was still copying stuff from books and looking on the internet.  I am on overload but excited about the hunt.  We leave in the morning for Dallas-Ft. Worth.

Now where did I put that?

We are finally on the road.  Stayed in South Haven, Kansas RV park just off I-35 and 4 miles from the Oklahoma border.  Today we are going to Medford, Oklahoma to see if I can find my great-grandparents who were in the Cherokee Land rush.
The 5th wheel towed great but we had a head wind.  As we came south the temperature got warmer, but the furnace did come on during the night.  We hope it doesn't get cold in Iowa.
Kansas has lots of cropland with gentle rolling hills, they are still working on harvest.

September Wall Hanging

Finished September wall hanging and have October ready to be quilted.  I'm still checking out a spot in the 5th wheel to hang the quilted months.
Spent the day putting things away or really hiding them.  Still making lists of things we may need.  With the slides out it's very comfortable.  We're looking forward to our first outing to the Amana Colonies.
